"My Country 'Tis of Thee"

My country, 'tis of thee,
Sweet land of liberty,
Of thee I sing:
Land where my fathers died,
Land of the pilgrims' pride,
From ev'ry mountainside
Let freedom ring!

This photo was taken by my cousin while she was visiting New York City during the summer
of 2002. A monument had been erected at the World Trade Center site, and it featured the
steel beams that remained standing, in the shape of a cross, in the midst of all the rubble.

-- Always Remember --
those who were murdered when agents of evil crashed
American Airlines Flight 11 and United Airlines Flight 175
into the World Trade Center's twin towers in New York City.

"Find rest, O my soul, in God alone; my hope comes from him. He
alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be
shaken. My salvation and my honor depend on God; he is my mighty
rock, my refuge. Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your
hearts to him, for God is our refuge." (Psalm 62:5-6, NIV)

A Word From Billy Graham

"The majestic towers of the World Trade Center, built on solid foundations, were examples of prosperity and creativity. When damaged, those buildings plummeted to the ground, imploding in upon themselves. Yet, underneath the debris, is a foundation that was not destroyed. The United States was attacked, buildings were destroyed, lives were lost. But now we have a choice: whether to implode and disintegrate emotionally and spiritually as a people and a nation; or to choose to become stronger through all of this struggle, to rebuild on a solid foundation. I believe that we are starting to rebuild on that foundation, and that foundation is our trust in God. And in that faith, we have the strength to endure something as difficult and as horrendous as what we have experienced. My prayer is that we will feel the loving arms of God wrapped around us and that as we trust in Him we will know in our hearts that He will never forsake us."

-- Always Remember --
those who were killed by homicidal terrorists who hijacked
United Airlines Flight 77 and crashed into the Pentagon.

Daily Devotional for September 11
from the book "Streams in the Desert" compiled by Mrs. Charles E. Cowman

"And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise." (Hebrews 6:15)

Abraham was long tried, but he was richly rewarded. The Lord tried him by delaying to fulfill His promise. Satan tried him by temptation; men tried him by jealousy, distrust, and opposition; Sarah tried him by her peevishness. But he patiently endured. He did not question God's veracity, nor limit His power, nor doubt His faithfulness, nor grieve His love; but he bowed to Divine Sovereignty, submitted to Infinite Wisdom, and was silent under delays, waiting the Lord's time. And so, having patiently endured, he obtained the promise.
God's promises cannot fail of their accomplishment. Patient waiters cannot be disappointed. Believing expectation shall be realized.
Beloved, Abraham's conduct condemns a hasty spirit, reproves a murmuring one, commends a patient one, and encourages quiet submission to God's will and way. Remember, Abraham was tried; he patiently waited; he received the promise, and was satisfied. Imitate his example, and you will share the same blessing. -- Selected

Service Members Honor Fallen Comrades
Photo and Story by: Gunnery Sgt. Glenn Holloway
WASHINGTON (Sept. 10, 2002) - The shadows of five members of the Pentagon's tours section fall on a building behind the bleachers at the site of the Sept. 11 commemoration ceremony. The ceremony will mark the one-year anniversary of the terrorist attacks on America. 125 service members and civilian workers were killed when terrorists flew American Airlines Flight 77 into the side of the nation's military headquarters at 9:37 a.m. The ceremony starts at 9:30 a.m. and will honor those killed or injured here, acknowledge the Pentagon restoration effort, and highlight, once again, our vigorous prosecution of the war on terrorism," according to an Aug. 30 Pentagon building circular. There will be a moment of silence at 9:37.

Always Remember... Never Forget

Always remember,
Never forget,
That day in September
When evil we met.

On the eleventh day,
Around the ninth hour,
We watched in dismay
As death struck our towers.

The pentagon as well
Suffered attack.
Our hearts began to swell,
We resolved to fight back.

United as brothers
On Flight 93,
Brave souls spared others
From more travesty.

Countless heroes worked swiftly
In our time of trouble
To lead others to safety,
Then to search through the rubble.

So many loved ones
Were murdered that day,
When planes used as weapons
Sought buildings as prey.

But our hearts are now
United in love,
As humbly we bow
To Our God above.

To mourn, then to heal,
Then rebuild, our resolve,
With mortar and steel
And with brotherly love.

That day in September
The most infamous yet,
We will always remember,
We shall never forget.

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you.
I do not give to you as the world gives.
Do not let your hearts be troubled
and do not be afraid.
John 14:27 NIV

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but
of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
2 Timothy 1:7 KJV

Our fathers' God to Thee,
Author of liberty,
To Thee we sing:
Long may our land be bright
With freedom's holy light;
Protect us by Thy might,
Great God, our King!

-- Always Remember --
the 40 souls on United Airlines Flight 93 who sacrificed
their own lives to save others from certain death.

Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
John 15:13 KJV

Let your light so shine before men, that they may
see your good works, and glorify your Father
which is in heaven. Matthew 5:16 KJV

Never Forget

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives, so also through Christ our comfort overflows. If we are distressed, it is for your comfort and salvation; if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which produces in you patient endurance of the same sufferings we suffer. And our hope for you is firm, because we know that just as you share in our sufferings, so also you share in our comfort.

2 Corinthians 1:3-7 NIV
